Collection: Caribbean amber

Caribbean green amber is approximately 2 to 10 million years old. The raw material is mined in small amber mines at various locations such as: B. Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Colombia or Ecuador are mined and sorted by hand and prepared for further processing.

Only after removing the bark from the inconspicuous raw amber does the variety of colors of Caribbean amber emerge. All the color nuances that can be found in Caribbean amber have their origin in the various deposits. The colors range from almost clear as water to shades of green, all shades of brown to very dark, almost black shades.

The greenish hue in Caribbean amber is probably caused by direct contact with pyrite-containing sedimentary rock or by glauconite. Plant remains could also have contributed to the green discoloration of this resin.
